About Us

Since February 2021, Seeds Of Ancestral Renewal (SOAR) has been cultivating systems of care to support the BIPOC community of Northern California. Rooted primarily in Wiyot, Winnemem Wintu, and neighboring Native territories, SOAR draws on the abundance of strengths, brilliances, and creativities of local BIPOC caretakers to establish services for BIPOC individuals and families.

When we say “caretakers,” we mean the countless people that sustain our community: the cooks, the auncles, the housecleaners, the grassroots organizers, the death doulas, the birthworkers and babysitters, the farmers and herbalists, the revolutionaries and movement-builders.

SOAR is an intentional action of solidarity, not charity. We recognize that only together, in reciprocal respect and support, can we continue flying for generations to come.

Vision

To co-cultivate the holistic health, healing, and resource access for Black Peoples, Indigenous Peoples, and other Peoples of Color (BIPOC) residing in Wiyot, Winnemem Wintu, and surrounding Nation territories.

Purpose

To offer caregiving support to the local BIPOC community by strengthening the capacity of and accessibility to BIPOC caretakers.

Goals

  • To center strong relationships and collective care so that we may continue to show up for and with our communities

  • To increase access to doula education and skill-building for the BIPOC community members

  • To increase access to BIPOC caregivers by offering a variety of holistic services
