BRENDA MONTAÑO

Brenda is a Xicana Indigena raised in Califas based on unceded Winnemem Wintu land, aka Mount Shasta. She is a mother, traditional birth worker, certified lactation educator and media creator. Zines with Sol is a platform that shines light on DIY media creations focused on liberation parenting, body autonomy, radical birth work and decolonial medicines. Her work is grounded in Xicanisma, environmentalism, Reproductive Justice and grassroots organizing. Outside of media making and birth work, Brenda loves spending time with her plantitas and ancestor trees, laughing with her community, and learning new, necessary, self sustaining skills in preparation for the (r)evolution.

  • Prenatal Support

    “Let's build rapport as I guide you in creating your birth vision. We will go over comfort measures, build your confidence & relationship with self /baby, and collectively navigating the waters of parenthood.”

    In-person offerings are primarily located in Siskiyou County.

    $75 per session (in person)

    15 weeks - 38 weeks pregnant

  • Post Partum Care

    “A crucial window for rejuvenation and healing. Let me support you in your cuarentena, the sacred 40 days, postpartum in which your body and spirit grows into its new self via: herbal bath & steams, tea and food drop off, newborn care & lactation education and support group.”

    $500* (in person)

    $375 (door-step drop off/ virtual)

    48 hours after birth-6weekspostpartum 3-5 visits

  • Plant Medicine

    “Plant medicine is for the spirit and body. It manifests as placenta encapsulations, food, tea, herbal oils, salves, and tinctures. Contact me to learn about food and tea drop off or herbal medicines"

  • Lactation Support

    Navigating the challenges that often come with body feeding can be incredibly overwhelming. Feeling unsupported and meeting with professionals with limited lactation education is often enough reason for folks to stop exclusively body feeding their infants. As a lactation guide, I am here to listen to your challenges and offer evidence-based solutions to support you and your body feeding goals.

    $50 per consultation (in person)

    Stories Con Leche: bi-monthly lactation support group $5-$20 per session

    *Brenda is currently on the path to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Until then, her practice is limited but will still support and refer out to an IBCLC when needed.
